Harriet Salmon

TRYING TO SEE WHAT THE ANIMALS SEE

April 4th - May 31, 2024

The exhibition features a collection of works by Seattle-based artist Harriet Salmon, including sculpture, drawing, photography, installation, and weaving.

Salmon's work explores our relationship with nature and the environment, often incorporating traditional craft techniques to interweave elements of the natural world with human consumption and manipulation. Through her art, Salmon invites viewers to consider the world from the perspective of animals, challenging us to see beyond our human-centric viewpoint.

Harriet Salmon is a multi-talented individual who wears many hats in the art world. Not only is she an artist herself, creating works in sculpture, drawing, photography, installation, and weaving, but she is also a gallerist, podcast host, and producer. Additionally, through her Craftsmanship podcast, Harriet delves into the technical skill and expertise found in the contemporary art world, sharing the oral histories of fabricators.

The gallery at Foundry Vineyards opened in 2010 and has been fortunate to exhibit artists such as Deborah Butterfield, Ai Weiwei, Chuck Close, Kiki Smith, Matthew Day Jackson, Rob Pruitt, James Lavadour, and more. In the gallery, we aim to exhibit a diverse group of established artists, mediums, and concepts predominantly in the vein of contemporary art.

The Foundry Vineyards gallery is not open for artist inquiries, however the Andersons believe strongly in collaboration and are open to proposals from art and humanities focused organizations.
