ABOUT THE ARTIST(S)
Ten Years Together: Art + Wine at Foundry Vineyards
A Note from Lisa Anderson about the show:
Foundry Vineyards has been presenting art exhibitions for many years, beginning in 2006 when we were pouring a single bottle of wine in a gallery space at the Walla Walla Foundry. In 2009, we moved into the building on Abadie Street, which soon evolved into the art gallery and tasting room we know today. A new chapter began in 2015 when I returned home to Walla Walla and began curating the gallery’s program.
Since then, the space has remained a place of curiosity and conversation between artists and guests, ideas and materials, the local and the global. Our exhibitions have reflected a belief that art is not always about comfort, but about engagement. It can provoke, challenge, and inspire reflection in ways that foster deeper awareness and connection.
Creating a space where people can gather has always been important to me. That sense of community has felt even more vital since the pandemic, when so many of us experienced isolation. Bringing people together through art, and the shared experience of discovery, dialogue, and connection, is not only a personal passion but also a reflection of the values that guide my family and our businesses.
While I have led the curatorial program for most of this period, the work has been enriched by collaborations with my brother, Jay, and a number of guest curators. These partnerships have brought new perspectives to the gallery and reflect the spirit of openness that guides our approach. Many of the artists who have exhibited here are people I’ve long admired, and others have become friends through the process of working together. It is always an honor to share their work and celebrate their creative journeys.
This catalog brings together ten years of exhibitions that collectively reflect a commitment to diverse voices and points of view. Each show, whether quiet or confrontational, has contributed to an ongoing conversation about what it means to engage meaningfully with art, and our neighbors.

About the Exhibition: Foundry Vineyards helped Crow’s Shadow celebrate 25 years of printmaking and community-building by showcasing artists from across the Pacific Northwest whose work was produced at Crow’s Shadow Institute of the Arts, located on the Confederated Tribes of the Umatilla Indian Reservation in Pendleton, Oregon. Founded by artist James Lavadour, Crow’s Shadow provides educational and professional opportunities for Native artists. The show brought together ten artists whose works merge tradition, identity, and contemporary practice.
