Seattle Tasting Room Associate, Part-Time
Company Description

Foundry Vineyards (est. 2003) and Pét Project are dedicated to the creation of finely-crafted low intervention, 100% organic wines that express the unique terroir of their vineyard. The award-winning wines are created with a combination of estate-grown fruit from the Walla Walla Valley and thoughtfully sourced fruit from throughout Washington State. Pét Project, Foundry Vineyard’s sister label, specializes in organic, naturally sparkling, zero/zero wines.

Our Seattle Tasting Room opened in 2019 and hosts a contemporary design shop curated by our friends, Fruitsuper. While they taste wine, customers can shop a curated selection of handcrafted, made in the USA, gifts from 130+ independent designers, makers, and artists. Our space is equal parts tasting room, shop, and community hub, and we regularly host pop-ups and events to support our fellow small businesses.

Job Description

The Tasting Room Staff provide a high level of customer service and hospitality to our customers, in addition to sharing product knowledge and enthusiasm for Foundry Vineyards wines. Team member duties include maintaining the facility, washing & polishing glassware, operating the POS, restocking, packing orders, answering the phone, and other administrative tasks that arise. The ideal candidate LOVES interacting with all kinds of people and sharing their passion for wine!

We are a boutique, family run winery with a small but mighty team. We rely on each other to make sure things get done, and we all must be flexible. There is nothing more important to our team than dedication to exceptional customer service, and going the extra mile for co-workers and guests alike.

What you’ll do:
  • Warmly and enthusiastically greet and serve customers, ensuring everyone walks away with an understanding of the Foundry Vineyards story- and feeling the love! We believe wine tasting shouldn’t be intimidating so creating a welcoming atmosphere is vital. We also welcome a steady stream of wine club members, so building long term customer relationships is key!

  • Maintain product knowledge of our wines, including current releases and library wines. Be prepared to have a point of view, our customers often want guidance and recommendations.

  • Complete daily operations including but not limited to: opening and closing duties, cleaning, restocking, data entry, and inventory as needed. Clean, sanitize, and polish all glass and dish wares. If there is time to lean, there is time to clean.

  • Track tasting reservations, and maintain the appointment calendar.

  • Fill in as needed across the shop; we’re all working towards one goal, and it’s not uncommon for Foundry Vineyards staff to help Fruitsuper.

What we’re looking for:
  • Prior retail, restaurant or customer service experience is a plus but not required; for the right people, we’re more than happy to teach.

  • A passion for creating connections with different kinds of people and an affinity for making folks feel right at home.

  • A self-starter mentality with an interest in learning about wine on and off the clock.

  • Eye for detail – you’re observant and understand that the little details make the difference: the warmth of a greeting, the table settings, or the organization of a shelf can all affect how a customer feels about Foundry Vineyards and how well the shop operates.

  • Collaborative spirit and commitment to Foundry Vineyards mission – you’re a team player and willing to lend a hand or elevate those around you. You add your own individuality to an already positive and uplifting work environment. A good sense of humor doesn’t hurt either.

  • Adaptability and flexibility – you recognize that in the service industry, things happen- and you’re able to calmly troubleshoot issues.
