Job Description

 

Foundry Vineyards is searching for a dynamic individual for the DTC Sales and Hospitality Manager role. This position is pivotal in managing all operations at our Walla Walla tasting room, optimizing in-person and digital experiences for our customers, while setting the standard for service and exceptional hospitality to our guests. We are looking for a customer-obsessed, driven, organized, and deeply enthusiastic candidate who lives and breathes wine culture, in and outside the tasting room. We are a boutique, family run winery with a small but mighty team. We rely on each other to make sure things get done, and we all must be flexible. The ideal candidate understands that working for a small business is challenging and exciting - no two days are the same, and no task is too small! What you'll do:

Tasting Room & Hospitality Management:

  • Demonstrate the highest standards of hospitality and customer service. Set the bar for Foundry Vineyard’s brand experience and a model for the tasting room team to follow both inside and outside the tasting room.

  • Educate guests on our unique concept of art+wine and our approach winemaking. We believe wine tasting shouldn’t be intimidating so creating a welcoming atmosphere is vital.

  • Build long lasting customer relationships -- we welcome a steady stream of wine club members and return customers that know to expect exceptional service and care.

  • Lead hiring, training, and scheduling of the Tasting Room team in addition to managing tasting room and event team members

  • Oversee daily operations of the tasting room facilities

  • Cultivate relationships with local businesses to promote brand awareness and collaboration.

  • Represent the winery at offsite industry events, private tastings, and dinners. 

  • Oversee shipping and logistics for DTC wine movements (wine coming to the tasting room and shipping to customers). 

  • Manage inventory levels and tracking.

  • Oversee the creation of tasting notes and tech sheets.

Wine Club:
  • Oversee all aspects of running a successful wine club. 

  • Drive wine club membership growth and retention through innovative strategies.

  • Train and motivate the tasting room team to grow club membership, retain club members, and support activities. 

  • Develop wine club events by working closely with the Event Manager and General Manager.

  • Ensure flawless execution of wine club shipments. 

  • Manage wine club inventory, billing, and compliance.

  • Develop copy for wine club email blasts and correspondence.​

E-commerce:
  • Manage eCommerce sales, promotions, and user experience.

  • Work with the Marketing Manager to develop messaging for email marketing campaigns. 

  • Manage all things Orderport - including but not limited to our product catalog, webstore, discounts, and customer account

What we're looking for:

​Experience

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent demonstrated work/life experience.

  • 5 years of experience in wine industry sales or hospitality is required, with a proven track record in increasing wine club memberships and sales.

  • Familiarity with computer systems such as POS, Google Drive, and shipping software is necessary.

  • Eye for detail – you’re observant and understand that the little details make the difference: the warmth of a greeting, the table settings, or the organization of a shelf can all affect how a customer feels about Foundry Vineyards and how well the shop operates.

  • Adaptability and reliability – you recognize that in the service industry, things happen- and you’re able to calmly troubleshoot issues and be flexible with your work schedule.

  • Attentive listening – a successful candidate will adeptly listen, interpret, and execute the owner’s requests and goals, while also facilitating team feedback sessions.

  • Knack for words – you a strong writer including spelling, grammar, punctuation, and proofreading.

  • Ability to resolve conflicts in a mature, calm, and professional manner.

  • A self-starter mentality with an interest in learning about wine on and off the clock.

Schedule
  • Full-time position, must have weekend availability

  • Tuesday - Saturday or Wednesday - Sunday schedule 9pm-5pm

  • Vacation days unavailable on select release weekends and events

  • Working knowledge of Washington wines is a plus, but for the right person we're happy to teach!
     

Compensation: 
  • $26-$33 per hour DOE, plus tips and commissions

  • Employer provides 100% healthcare, vision, and dental insurance after 60 days

  • 401k match after one year of employment

  • Paid vacation and sick time

  • Employee discounts: 50% off wine and 20% off merchandise

 

Physical Requirements:​
  • Ability to stand and walk for long periods of time.

  • Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds repeatedly.

  • Must be able to effectively stock wine and non-wine merchandise, set-up and break down structures, tables, etc., and be able to utilize a dolly cart and other equipment to assist in moving heavy objects.

  • Have access to transportation. Some wine delivery may be required.

  • MAST Alcohol Server’s Permit

  • WA State Food Handler’s Card

  • Driver’s License
